On the driver's side, removal of the RAM badge with pliers began the process... |
The black sticky adhesive residue left behind is seen here... |
After removal of all the emblems, this is what remained... |
Next the nasty mess will be removed with the 3M Eraser Wheel... |
Working like a big art gum eraser on paper, the wheel soon left nothing but powdery residue, and the ghost lettering... |
The ghost lettering can be easily seen here... |
But a few swipes with Turtle Polishing Compound leaves no trace... |
All that's left is clean paint with no harm to the clearcoat finish...There is no evidence that this steel sheriff ever wore a badge... |
The door gunner's side is the same... |
The newly cleaned surface took the new emblems with enthusiasm... |
The little ram's head is still there, but it proudly proclaims, "I'm a Dodge!"... |
I suppose I'll have to live with the little ram's head, but overall I'm very pleased with the way it turned out... |
As discussed in the article I procured a "Dodge Brothers" emblem for the front grille, and pictured above are the backing plates I made from scrap aluminum... |
Above is the new grille and headlights installed...The three LED marker lights at the top of the grille were included... |
